Just when everything is going well, the RIAA wants to kill us. Not Reign Radio, but internet radio itself. It has been quite obvious to me that the RIAA doesn't like internet radio, too free spirited, not in the interest of the BIG record companies, a nusiance that must be stopped... Now they have gotten passed new rates that will cripple most any broadcaster, including Reign Radio. They are getting $.0008 per performance for 2006 and $.0011 for 2007, and it goes up from there. Now you think $.0011 is not that bad, well it is per performance.. what is a performance well if one hundred people hear a song played on an internet radio station, then they had 100 performances of that song... Doing the math for Reign Radio puts us somewhere in the $800 per month range for playing the songs here, something we cannot afford. We'd really have to go nuts selling ads to make that much, and our deal with LoudCity will not permit us to sell ads due to licensing issues.

Right now everything is being appealed, but you still can act to help stop the insanity. Go to savenetradio.org and contact your representative. Help save internet radio today!
