Hi,there.Just decided to start a new poll here.Top Christian Rock Guitarist.Obviously, very objective as there are so many, many to choose from. What's your choice.Let us know.Or at least narrow it down to a few select.
Maybe Rex Carroll(Whitecross,King James) or maybe Jeff Scheeetz or legends like Bob Hartman(Petra)or a new guy everybody should hear about.Maybe your grandmother plays a mean lute?Who's It going to be?Does Phil Keaggy qualify or how about Michael Sweet(Stryper)or a straight ahead consistent performer like Bjorn Stigsson(Leviticus)?A Scandinavian Black Metaller or a Razor-edged Punker?Older or younger?Do you love the Blues?Thrash?Hardcore?Melodic Rhythms?
Who's it going to be?
By the way...my choice is Mr. Rex Carroll
Axemaster!!

I think maybe Phil Keaggy is the best.. he's also missing a finger on his picking hand.. so he gets a lot of bonus points for that... but...
My favorite is Rex Carroll ! I've seen both in concert and they're both in a class of their own.
I think I'm coming down with Altzheimer's Disease, cuz for the life of me, I can't think of the guitar player for Guardian... also, there's Lanny Cordola.. and then can't forget about Oz Fox from Stryper.
I still gotta pick Rex Carroll for my favorite, though... cuz he has the happiest fingers I've ever seen on a fret board.

I take pride in admitting when I'm wrong by swallowing my pride so that I can admit it.

My favorite overall guitarist would have to be (the smilies aren't working, tried to put the "bow down" one here, LOL): DAVID ZAFFIRO....(early guitarist for Bloodgood, "awesome" solo albums vocalist, and guitarist and producer)
2 and beyond: Tony Palacious (Guardian, and hopeful future???????????????????????????????, also read he helped Oz out),
Rex Caroll (WhiteCross), Michael Sweet (DUHHH), Bjorn Stiggson (Leviticus, XT, Leviticus), Oz Fox (Duhhhh), Ray Paris (Barren Cross), Bob Hartman (Petra), Troy Thompson (Bride!!!!!!!!!!), Tamplin (Tamplin, Shout, like I said, changes from month to mont-he could move up a few), Paul Jackson (later Bloodgood), and the list goes on and on...

men, how do you pick a favourite, everyone of the named and un-names guitarist has brought something different to the table. there's the guitarist from Liaison(one of the brothers), micheal, jamie and scott from holy soldier,ty tabor, jeff sheetz, pete stewart, lanny cordola, pod's first guitarist i think his name is marcus..., the guitarist from newsboys, gary lanaire. i could go on forever (seriously), but my favourite is ty tabor, his tone, sound..........

This is a tough one! i will have to go with Bruce Fitzhugh from Living Sacrifice. To play that hard and that fast and be that technically sound, you have to be good. (and sing, too!) You can't go wrong with Rex Carroll, Oz Fox or David Zaffiro, either. Special props to Ty Tabor!

tony palacios (guardian)
marcos curiel (P.O.D.)
pete stewart
bob hartman (petra)
billy smiley (whiteheart)
warren poi (F.O.G.)
....and that's all i can think of at the moment....
although i must say, the guitarist who's style i want to emulate the most is marcos curiel, i really like the way he makes a guitar sing

My top two are tied!
Lanny Cordola and Phil Keaggy - They play different styles from each other but they also have many many different styles that they can play.
The next grouping of awesome guitar players would include most of the ones already mentioned:
Ty Tabor, Rex Carroll, Tony Palacios, Oz Fox, and Troy Thompson.
Here are some other Axemasters:
Dan Huff, Gordon Kennedy, Bob Hartman, Dez Dickerson, Chris Rodriguez, Scott Van Zen, Kenny Greenberg, and Larry Howard.
